Nnauk face to face annual conference 2025
On 15th March 2025, the Nepal Nurses Association UK (NNAUK) held a successful educational conference at Harrow Football Club, bringing together nurses and healthcare professionals for a day of inspiration and learning.
Although the program was scheduled to commence at 10:30 AM it started at 10:40am with a safety briefing by the General Secretary of NNAUK, Shreeja Dangol, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony led by our advisor, Mam Tuka Sandwel, and NNAUK President, Mrs. Rashmita Darlami. Vice President Indira Bashyal extended a warm welcome to all attendees with an engaging speech that set the tone for the event.
The first speaker, Shreejana Koirala, Maternity Community Matron and Link Project Manager for the NorthWest London Integrated Care Board (NWL ICB) captivated the audience by sharing her remarkable journey from being a nurse in Nepal to working as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in the UK and Interim link Project Manager at the Integrated Care Board (ICB). Attendees found her story inspiring,emphasizing the theme of overcoming fears to achieve success.


Dr. Bibha Simkhada, Reader/Associate Professor in Nursing Deputy Director of Graduate Education University of Huddersfield,UK, delivered a presentation on Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for career advancement, encouraging participants to seek further CPD opportunities and navigate available courses. Lead Nurse for Virtual Hospital (South & West Herts Heath & care Partnership) Watford General Hospital West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Kalpana Ghimire, introduced attendees to the transformative potential of virtual care, which was received as a glimpse into the new era of nursing.
Suman Shrestha MBE, Consultant Nurse Intensive Care Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust Professional Lead for Critical Care Royal College of Nursing, provided an eye-opening presentation on sepsis and documentation, enhancing the attendees’ confidence in recognizing and managing sepsis patients effectively. Program was run by Shreeja Dangol general secretary and Praju Sapkota secretary together.
Another speaker barsha Belbase, executive committee member did the presentation on nursing leadership which was very powerful and insightful. Additionally, Miss Vinice Thomas Director of Nursing and Quality at NHS England, London Region, addressed the crucial topic of dealing with racism in healthcare, empowering participants to speak up and challenge unacceptable behaviors, while emphasizing the importance of understanding relevant policies.



David Taylor Regulation Adviser NMC (London) Employer Link Service Professional Practice Directorate, presented on the topics of fitness to practice and revalidation. His clear and informative guidance encouraged attendees to begin new revalidation documentation the very next day and informed about NMC culture and fit to practice.
Although two topics had to be cancelled, the President assured attendees that they would be rescheduled for the next webinar. Following lunch, NNAUK welcomed the Honourable Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, His Excellency Chandra Kumar Ghimire who acknowledged the vital care nurses provided during the COVID-19 pandemic and praised the association’s ongoing health awareness efforts in both the UK and Nepal.
Anjana Sapkota Executive member, OET trainer and the clinical Educator, presented an overview of NNAUK’s activities from its establishment to the present, followed by a speech from our founding President Ajita Simkhada, who reminisced about how the organization was formed and highlighted the creation of its logo by Mrs. Rama Khanal. Immediate Past President Sunita Gautam expressed gratitude to all the speakers and the 8th Executive Committee for their contributions.

JOIN WITH UPCOMING EVENTS

Mr.Bejoy Sebastian, the RCN President, emphasized the importance of supporting overseas nurses and promised ongoing backing for NNAUK. 6th executive president Binodbikash Simkhada also pointed out how COVID-19 had necessitated the transition of the conference from face to face to an online format in previous years. Mr Suresh, a valuable guest representing British Indian Nursing Association from INMA(International Niraing Association) group, your presence and support was remarkable.



As a token of appreciation, our new Ambassador Nepal to UK His Excellency Chandra Kumar Ghimire and Mrs Sarita Neupane Ghimire were warmly welcomed, and certificates along with tokens of love were presented to all speakers by the President and the Ambassador. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from the President, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of guests, speakers, advisors, all members, sponsors, and all attendees.
The event wrapped up with a 30-minute networking session, providing new nurses from Nepal with practical application techniques, writing support, and interview skills. Attendees took advantage of this opportunity to engage with the speakers, enriching their professional connections. This programme was sponsored by OSCE academy, Sansaya OET training, A Star financial solution UK and HTR care.
Overall, the conference was a resounding success, fostering collaboration, inspiration, and discussions on important topics within the nursing community.
